Idolatrous Sources of godhood
Not to give creed to the guy with the spaced out hair on the History Chanel, but the "ancient aliens" he is so keen on revealing, are really fallen angels who made "contact" with humans, and are not beings from other planets, stars, or galaxies they imagine them to be. We have all sorts of legends and tales about other worldly beings, gods even, who came down from the sky and bestowed great knowledge to humanity. Wasn't that nice of them? And all they want in return is our devotion and worship. Why? Because their erroneous claim is that they made us. Isn't that the point in the movie Prometheus? Uh, I'll pass on their offer since their claim as being our creators is false. Don't be deceived dear reader, these beings are false god's, fallen angels to be exact, who feign "love" for us. What they'd really "love" is to see all of us burn in hell with them, and thanks to their abilities to deceive and obtain worship, they will reap a great many souls!
False Religious Sources of godhood
- teaching the Trinitarian philosophy manifested as God (the Father, the Son, the H.S)and Satan(Dragon, Anti-Christ, False Prophet).
- denying Jesus' divinity.
- employing the use of man-made traditions and sacraments to earn salvation.
- portraying Jesus as an all loving guru who teaches the road to heaven is wide.
- teaching that men can become gods via secret knowledge.
- being devoted to obtaining physical health and worldly wealth.
- mocking Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross.
- teaching a metaphysical (abstract (fact-less) spiritual theory) and bloodless gospel.
What good is being a "little" god if we don't have his omni-powers-- or do we? If you listen long enough to Kenneth Copeland talking about himself, one would think he is a god. According to him, he can command the weather to obey him, teleport, heal the sick, cast out demons, and order money to fly into his bank account. All that is missing from his godhood repertoire is walking on water while turning it into wine, oh and raising the dead. I'm sure that will come later on, perhaps before he croaks.
However, Kenneth Copeland and Co. are not the only hucksters that offer human beings religious godhood status. Mormons and anyone who still adheres to Herbert W. Armstrong's teachings will get nearly the same offer. Their brand of unauthorized religious godhood involves you being your own god, one that creates your own reality with the power of your words! As convincing as this may sound (or not), it isn't true. Authorized biblical (Old Testament) godhood is relegated to those who hold a literal kingship, have an actual judicial appointment, or were created as an angel of limited power and glory. All other applicants need not apply. Any Scriptures from the New Testament that are wrested to make them seem like God approves of this sort of thing, where just anyone can claim being a "god," are precisely that, wrested, or twisted.
