Original Vs. Counterfeit
"The original" means it is the first of something, while a counterfeit is a copy of the original. In the art world, there are authorized copies of original works of art that overseen by the artists that produced them, called "prints," and they are usually labeled by a limited number. But counterfeits are more than just copies of an original, they are unauthorized copies, made to not only ripoff the authentic designer, but the purchaser is ripped off too. Counterfeits are cheaply made; their quality of materials and workmanship are inferior to the original, and are used by unscrupulous people as a means of stealing revenue from the original creator. The purchaser of a counterfeit may or may not be aware of the fake that they are agreeing to purchase, since they lack the knowledge of all of the attributes that the original offers.
However, some counterfeits are so well fashioned that they even fool the experts. Those who are not fooled by the counterfeit and knowingly purchase them are those who want the prestige of possessing the original without paying big bucks for it. This is a very selfishly skewed attitude, one that actually encourages the practice of counterfeiting as being advantageous, not only to the counterfeiter, but more importantly, to the prideful and covetous, which the forgeries are marketed to.
"You shall be as gods."
According to Scripture, Lucifer betrayed them all (God, Adam, and Eve), because he was there in the garden, apparently, for the sole purpose of guarding that tree. I say that because he is referred to as an anointed and guarding (covering/Ezek. 28:14) cherub. So what was he guarding there if not the tree? God may have sent him there from his post on the Mountain of God to babysit his new creation. I'm sure that didn't sit too well with his mounting pride, at some point he finally snapped and decided how he was going to initiate his plan of becoming like the Most High. I'm sure that's why God told Adam to not only tend the garden, but to guard it; God was fully aware of Lucifer's internal situation. But rather than upholding the truth in obedience toward the great I AM, who lovingly created them all, Adam heeded the voice of his wife, who was duped by Lucifer's outer beauty and wisdom, which also contributed to and hid the mounting darkness within himself. What a mess!
But before we get too big for our britches and blame our first parents, we need to take a good, long look at ourselves. Are we just as capable of falling for the same lie Eve did? We sure are. Are we just as guilty as Adam for not speaking up and just going with the flow to appease those we love? Apparently so, since there has always been a wealth of false religions in the world. As for you personally, these tough questions can only be honestly answered by you. That is what I intend to do in the coming weeks; write articles that lead us to ask and honestly answer these important questions relating to godhood. Are you ready? Here we go!
